Chip Lueck's dream, of owning his own business began while working at Blue's Trim Shop across from Bay High School as a co-op program in 1975/ Chip's job at Blue's Trim Shop was sweeping and cleaning up after the workers. Partly due to Chip's love for cars he found the work interesting and began to learn all he could. It wasn't too many years before Chip made a decision to start his own business.

In 1978 this became a reality. The Recovery Room was originally known as Beach Auto Trim, and was run from a small building at the west end of Thomas Drive built by Chip and friends on the property where he lived. It wasn't long before Chip outgrew the shop both in size and location for growth, as he branched out from automobiles to include boats and canvas awnings. In 1984 Chip built and relocated to Thomas Drive, a much larger and better equipped space in which to operate the business. This is also the year Chip met and married his wife Nan, who joined him in his vision of The Recovery Room, and continues to be the accountant. To further keep it a family run business, in 2001 Nan's niece, Christina, came to work as office manager. Chip, never losing sight of his dreams and the closeness of family continues to be a large part of the continued success of The Recovery Room.

The Recovery Room continued to prosper at the Thomas Drive location until 2007, when the decision was made to move across the street on Summer Oak Court, a building specifically designed and built to handle the business now.

The Recovery Room has grown to a full service canvas and upholstery business. The work is custom made on site and has expanded over the years to include AUTOMOTIVE interiors and exteriors, stationary and retractable CANVAS AWNINGS, all forms of MARINE tops, cushions, cover and interiors, and AIRPLANE covers and interiors. The Recovery Room is now in its 30th year and continues to be run by Chip who is now an IFAI Certified Master Craftsman and The Recovery Room continues to be a successful business.
